Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Paul graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Anthropology from Rhodes University, South Africa. After his BA he went on to gain a Postgraduate Higher Diploma in Journalism and in 1987 and in 1988 he studied photography under the world renowned South African photographer Obie Oberholzer.
After working as a photojournalist in South Africa, he moved to Belgium where he furthered his academic and business qualifications with a Diploma in Commercial Photography.
Together with wife and fellow professional photographer, Magda, he opened a studio in Belgium and quickly built a reputation as an outstanding editorial photographer. Social photography commissions often came in from commercial clients who enjoyed working with Paul and wanted him to take their family portraits and wedding photographs too.
The next move was to England. He is now based together with Magda in Yorkshire where he works as a professional communicator using images and words. His experience spans photography, writing, art direction, web media, marketing and journalism.
Paul has had numerous exhibitions and has sold his fine art photographs to private collectors in England, Belgium, Germany, South Africa, Japan and the USA.
He writes a popular blog sharing his experiences, technical knowledge and observations about photography.
Besides bringing fresh creative ideas, an encyclopedic technical knowledge and craftsmanship with flair to every project, Paul stands out from the crowd because of his easy going personality and ability to keep everyone's energy levels up, (even when work continues into the small hours).
