Born in Cape Town, South Africa, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Anthropology from Rhodes University, South Africa.
After my BA I went on to gain a Postgraduate Higher Diploma in Journalism and in 1987 and in 1988 I was fortunate enough to study photography under one of the most famous and talented South African photographers, Obie Oberholzer, after he selected me for a special postgraduate course.
I moved to Belgium where I furthered my academic and business qualifications with a Diploma in Commercial Photography.
Together with my wife and fellow professional photographer, Magda, we opened a studio in Belgium and I quickly built a reputation as an editorial photographer. Social photography commissions often came in from commercial clients who enjoyed working with me and wanted me to take their family portraits and wedding photographs too.
The next move was to England. I am now based together with Magda in Yorkshire where I work as a professional communicator using images and words. My experience spans photography, writing, art direction, web media, marketing and journalism.
I have had numerous exhibitions and sold fine art photographs to private collectors in England, Belgium, Germany, South Africa, Japan and the USA. I write a popular blog sharing my experiences, technical knowledge and observations about photography. Besides bringing fresh creative ideas, an encyclopedic technical knowledge and craftsmanship with flair to every project, I have heard it said that an easy going personality and an ability to keep everyone's energy levels up, (even when work continues into the small hours).
